Box No. 107
"A fishing boat which was entering the Bay was captured by the English who mistook her for a 'Pirate'. This excited the displeasure of the fishing people on the shore, because the English who were the authors of the mischief were in our employ. They attacked us in a disorderly manner. Five of our number were wounded severely and twelve more slightly. We beg that these men may be examined and that means may be taken for their cure."
"We likewise present for inspection a list of the articles we have lost, and pray that they may be restored to us."
The Boatmen, Ching Taou and Dan Know, made the following deposition:
"We are inhabitants of this bay and gain a livelihood by fishing, being provided with a licence from the Magistrate of the district. There are no disorderly practices that can be laid to our charge."
"On the 6th of March, while fishing out at sea, unfortunately fell in with an English vessel which was firing her guns at a Pirate."
